Fudgy Black Bean Brownies (gluten-free, super moist)
As I wandered the aisles of some nutrition fair back in college, one of the vendors offered me a sample of seemingly innocent brownies.They add structure and bulk, while also making them super soft and fudgy.You’ll need to rinse, drain, and puree a can of black beans to make a good pasty base, then mix in the rest of your wet ingredients.My family was hesitant to try them because of the ‘black beans’ but they had no problem gobbling them up!!Servings: 16 brownies Print Pin These Fudgy Black Bean Brownies are a decadent gluten-free dessert (and no one will ever guess that they’re packed with fiber-filled black beans!▢ 3 Tbsp flavorless oil, like canola or sunflower 45 mL.▢ ½ tsp finely ground or instant coffee optional.▢ ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips 60 g Instructions Wets: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (176 C).In a large bowl, mix together the bean puree, eggs, oil, and vanilla.Add the dry ingredients to the wets, then stir in chocolate chips.Bake: Grease an 8×8 or 9×9 inch pan, then line with parchment paper.Pour in batter and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the edges are visibly cooked and the center doesn’t jiggle much when you shake the pan (a toothpick may still come out a little gooey, that’s fine!For brownies that are really thick, double the recipe and add 15 to 20 minutes to the cooking time.I originally posted this Black Bean Brownies recipe back when the blog was in its beginning years. .

There's somethings so special about developing a recipe that is both freaking delicious and healthy.They're not just vegan (I also tested the non-vegan version though) and gluten free, they contain a "secret" ingredient: black beans!Now, they're not extremely sweet because of the amount of unsweetened cocoa powder (but I like bitter and so do some of my friends), therefore make sure to drizzle some 75% (or less) dark chocolate on top to add extra sweetness (or add a few extra grams of maple/agave syrup or brown sugar).Maybe you're wondering if family and friends, knowing these were made with black beans, a weird ingredient for a dessert, approved.When I told them I used black beans (of course I made sure no one was allergic to legumes), they opened their eyes wide.Add all the ingredients to a food processor - in order: black beans, coffee (optional), cocoa powder, agave or maple syrup, a pinch of salt, coconut oil, vanilla extract, baking powder and the egg substitute (or eggs if not vegan) - and blend; Bake at 175°C Share with friends and family, tell 'em the secret ingredient and ENJOY!To make these delicious brownies I've used my favorite food processor (the above): CLICK.Don’t forget to share your photos with me on Instagram: tag me or send a DM! .

The recipe I really want to try is this one, but I wasn’t quite ready to launch into baking brownies with black beans AND agave nectar.I can only handle one wild ingredient at a time, but since the boys seem to love these brownies, my next batch might just contain agave nectar! .

After having weight-loss surgery I have struggled to find great tasting recipes that are high in protein, this one hit the mark!!!It definitely makes you use a lot of tools in the kitchen but the end result is worth the dishes.I made these for my niece, who is gluten intolerant, and although they are no match for real brownies, they were a big success.I also followed the recommendation to whip the beans up in the food processor for a full two minutes.I didn't "marble" the egg mixture as the recipe called for, rather I just mixed all the ingredients until homogenized.I didn't find that drizzling the agave/egg mixture over the top to create a marble effect added very much...I think it made it look less appetizing.My husband is involuntarily on a Gluten-free, Dairy-free diet because of stomach pain and has felt he's been deprived of what he truly enjoys - chocolate.He and our other dinner guests couldn't believe it was made with black beans and that it was so DARN good!I used teecino for my coffee substitute, so the finished product has a definite carob taste.I made these as a gift for my friend who cannot have wheat or gluten and I know she will positively FREAK over them! .
