This Oreo Ice Cream Cake makes for the perfect no bake dessert during warm summer months. This ice cream cake is delicious and super easy to make. The recipe reminded me of the Dirt cake with all the Oreos, which made it really familiar and really yummy….A lot of people are hesitant to make ice cream cakes, because it seems difficult, but it’s actually really simple! You start by adding the crushed cookie crumbs to a bowl, reserving about ½ cup for the topping.Add the butter to the crushed Oreos, mix it up, then press it into the bottom of a greased 9×13 pan.Take it out, drizzle chocolate fudge sauce over the ice cream and freeze for another hour. Finally, add whipped cream and sprinkle with remaining Oreos, then freeze for 2 more hours. When making your cake soften the ice cream to about 15 degrees F so that it’s easy to spread. As a general rule ice cream cake can last in the freezer for 5-7 days and keep its flavor and texture. This is a good option if you’re traveling longer or your destination, such as a park, will not have a freezer to store the cake until it’s time to eat.Be aware that you will need extra time to thaw the cake before serving or it will be too frozen/hard to cut.We hope you enjoy this easy ice cream cake! .

Back in April I made a homemade ice cream cake on my instagram stories for my son’s birthday.Instead of spending loads of money on a Dairy Queen cake, I opted to make my own and it was a roaring success.Set your ice cream flavor out to soften slightly, then spread into the prepared cake pan and pop back in the freezer to harden.I wanted to give my ice cream cake a little more texture and pizazz so I crushed up a bunch of Oreo cookies and mixed them with some hot fudge sauce.Spread the hot fudge cookie mixture over the top of your prepared cake layer.Since my son is not a fan of traditional buttercream frosting, I went ahead and spread some thawed whipped topping all over the ice cream cake.Once you’re done decorating the cake, you’ll want to pop it back in the freezer for a couple hours to let it all freeze together.Just before serving, bring the cake out and let it sit on the counter at room temperature for at least 10 to 15 minutes so it’s easier to slice.Just before assembling the cake combine 10 finely chopped Oreo cookies and ALL BUT 1 tbsp of the hot fudge sauce in a bowl. .

A moist chocolate cake full of Oreo icing! So you might remember that last year I mentioned that the hubs and I were going to South Africa, both to visit his family and for me to see the country.Well, we were supposed to go over Thanksgiving and into December, but ended up having to postpone the trip because of a delay with getting the hubs’ citizenship.Hopefully the finally “ceremony” where he’ll actually receive the citizenship won’t take too long – but of course we aren’t holding our breath. He’s pretty much grown up in the U.S., so it’s not like it’s stuff he hadn’t learned before, but it’s amazing how much of it you forget. We had our small group over to watch the game and they were curious about what kind of questions were in the study guide they gave the hubs.Other than the two teachers in the group, most of us had a tough time answering correctly. We had a vague idea of most answers, but probably still would’ve gotten them wrong. But I’ve been quizzing him the last few nights, so now we are both ready for the test!I don’t even bother eating a regular Oreo.If I’m going to allow myself to taste the things I make, I cannot be downing an entire box of Oreos too.And to make sure there’s plenty of Oreo in every bite, I made sure to have 3 layers of cake instead of two.Cuisine: American Print Pin Description This Chocolate Oreo Cake is to die for!A moist chocolate cake full of Oreo icing!( ) natural unsweetened cocoa powder OR Hershey’s Special Dark Cocoa powder 2 tsp baking soda.If you plan to decorate the outside of the cake with more Oreos, as shown, you might need a second package.Prepare three 8 inch cake pans with parchment paper circles in the bottom, and grease the sides.Add all dry ingredients to a large bowl and whisk together.Add eggs, buttermilk and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients and mix well.Divide batter between three cakes pans and bake at 300 degrees for about 30-33 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few crumbs.Slowly add 4 cups of powdered sugar and mix until smooth.Add vanilla and Oreo crumbs and mix until smooth.Add another 4-5 cups of powdered sugar and mix until smooth.Set aside about 3 1/2 cups of icing for the filling inside the cake and add chopped Oreos, if using.Spread 1/2 of the icing with the chopped Oreos on top in an even layer.Feel free to use my tutorial for how to frost a smooth cake.Heat the heavy whipping cream just until it begins to boil, then pour it over the chocolate chips.Drizzle the chocolate ganache around the edge of the cake, then pour the remainder of the ganache on top of the cake and spread evenly.Allow the ganache to firm up a bit, then pipe the remainder of the frosting around the top edge of the cake (see my tips on making a chocolate drip cake) and add an Oreo between each swirl.Sprinkle a few Oreo crumbs onto to the cake, if desired, then serve. .
