Soda water makes these scones light, fluffy and utterly delicious.These scones use self raising flour, cream and soda water as the base ingredients, with a touch of sugar, vanilla and salt for flavour.My mum and I always seem to order scones on our regular coffee dates, it has become somewhat of a tradition for us.Naturally we have made sure to master our own scone recipe that is the world’s best.Straight from the oven, topped with our favourite Barker’s Raspberry Jam and a large dollop of cream.If you don’t have scone cutters on hand you can go rustic and simply scoop a few large tablespoons of dough onto the tray and bake.whipped cream Instructions Preheat the oven to 200 degrees celcius.Make a well in the centre of the flour and sugar and pour in the soda water, cream, vanilla and pinch of salt.Place the scones just touching on the lined baking tray and brush the tops with cream.Serve with my favourite raspberry jam from Barker’s and whipped cream. .

Cheese scones (easy soda water method) Recipe
2 TB chopped fresh herbs - I use a mixture of parsley, rosemary, sage, thyme and oregano.Add the cream, cheese (reserving a tablespoon or so), herbs and soda water.Turn out onto a floured surface, gently pat out to 1 inch thickness and cut into 14 even pieces.Sprinkle the tops wtih the reserved cheese (or brush with milk if preferred). .
Soda Water Date Scones (plus some other ingredients) — Sophie
Sieve together your flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in the largest mixing bowl that you have.Place your chopped up dates in a microwave safe bowl and squeeze over the orange juice.Toss the dates through the dry ingredients making sure they are evenly dispersed.Add equal portions of the cream and soda water until you have a single mass that isn't too wet but also doesn't have huge pockets of dry flour either.Tip the dough onto a floured bench and press it into a rectangular shape keeping it about 3cm thick.Pat each scone to be with some milk or leftover cream and then sprinkle over a light dusting of sugar. .

4 Ingredient Cheese Scones
Many of you will already know of my original 3 ingredient scones, a simple delicious recipe consisting of self raising flour, cream and lemonade (sprite).The end result of this swap is super light and delicious scones!Ingredients today are from Countdown, always look out for their own brand range, great quality and really affordable.Much like making scones you will want to use light hands and handle the dough as little as possible.I like to glaze my savoury scones with a little milk and if you like you can top with a little additional cheese for more cheesey goodness.You can find my other recipes based on 3 ingredient cream & lemonade scones here.You want to bake the scones until they are lightly golden brown and when you tap them they sound hollow.Instructions Preheat the oven to 220 Bake ( 425F) Prepare a baking tray with baking paper and set aside Grate the cheese In a large bowl add the flour and grated cheese and carefully combine the two with your hands or a large wooden spoon Add to this the cream and soda water and using a large wooden spoon or your hands combine the ingredients gently.If the dough looks dry add a splash more of both the soda water & cream and combine.Or you can use a cookie cutter Place these 1 cm apart on a baking tray and lightly brush with a small amount of milk (if wanting to top with additional cheese sprinkle that over now) Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes, check at this time, they may require up to 5-6 minutes more, so I cook for 3 minute intervals from this time until I am happy.They are cooked perfectly when lightly golden brown on the top and bottom and sound hollow to tap.Remove from the oven and serve warm with butter Store in an airtight container once cooled.Please leave a comment down below, rate this recipe or share a photo on Facebook!If you are not already be sure to follow me on Facebook or Instagram for more deliciousness, and you can register your email in the subscription box below to receive all my recipes as I publish them. .
These fluffy Date Scones are an absolute delight and perfect for afternoon tea.They are made from scratch with only five ingredients - self-raising flour, cream, soda water, white sugar and chopped dates.The soft and gooey dates add sweetness in every bite, and they can be frozen if you have any leftover.Medjool dates are expensive, so I usually buy the Homebrand ones from the supermarket.Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface, knead two or three times and form a ball.Transfer the rounds carefully to the baking tray and arrange them close together - this helps them to rise.These Date Scones taste lovely fresh from the oven on their own.You could spread them with butter while they are warm, or serve them with jam and cream like traditional scones.Fresh grated orange zest works well with this recipe, as well as a little cinnamon spice.Yes - you can make these with lemonade and other fizzy drinks, including ginger ale!▢ 150 g (1 cup) dates , pitted, and cut into tiny pieces., ▢ 1 tbsp milk , for brushing over the top To serve ▢ Jam and cream , optional Instructions Preheat the oven to 180°C fan / 200°C / 390°F and line a baking tray with baking / parchment paper.Add the dates, sugar, soda water and cream, and mix to form a soft and sticky dough.Bring together and knead lightly 3 or 4 times, then pat down with your hands to a thickness of approximately 2.5 cm (1").Transfer each round carefully with a spatula to the baking tray and arrange so that they are slightly touching each other (this helps them to rise).Place on a wire rack to cool, then serve with butter, jam, and cream. .
